Common Help

iCloud

Pin and Plot syncs your trips through iCloud. Sign in to iCloud on each device with the same Apple Account. Your trips open offline too — on a plane, for example. Changes sync when you are back online, and can take a minute to arrive on another device.

Without iCloud, Pin and Plot works fully on your device, but your trips stay on that device and can’t be shared.

Trips Saved Before iCloud

Trips you made while your device wasn’t signed in to iCloud stay on that device. After you sign in, they appear at the top of the Trips screen under Saved before iCloud. Tap Add to iCloud to bring a trip’s stays, places, days, journeys, and to-dos into iCloud as a new trip, or export it as a file. Packing lists and expenses stay on the device.

Sharing a Trip

Open the trip, tap ··· › Trip settings › Share Trip, and send the invitation. The people you invite need an Apple Account. Once they accept, the trip appears on their Trips screen and edits flow both ways. Personal packing items and receipt images stay private.

Importing and the Trip Assistant

Reading pasted text, screenshots, photos, and recordings into a trip, and asking questions about it, use Apple Intelligence on your device. They need a device that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri and the model finished downloading. Everything can still be added by hand with the + on each screen.

Permissions

Open the Settings app, select Pin and Plot, and confirm that the permission needed for the feature is enabled. Location, camera, microphone, and speech recognition are optional and requested only for related features.

Restoring a Deleted Trip

On the Trips screen, tap ··· › Recently deleted and restore it.
