Privacy Policy for Pin and Plot
Last updated: September 24, 2026
Pin and Plot is built so that your trips belong to you. The developer does not collect, store, sell, or share any of your information, and cannot see your trips.
Our Privacy Approach
Pin and Plot has:
- No user accounts
- No custom backend
- No analytics SDK
- No advertising SDK
- No third-party trackers
- No third-party AI service
We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
Data Stored by Pin and Plot
Everything you add is stored on your device. Depending on the features you use, this can include:
- Trips, days, stays, activities, and notes
- Journeys and their legs, times, and booking details
- Saved places
- Packing lists and your packing library
- Expenses, cost estimates, receipts, and cost splits
- To-dos
- Your home base and preferred airport
- The people you travel with, including an optional age band
Private iCloud Sync
When you are signed in to iCloud, Pin and Plot syncs your trips through your private iCloud database so they are available on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Your synced content is stored by Apple in your iCloud account. It is not stored on a developer-operated server and is not accessible to the developer. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policies.
Sharing a Trip
When you share a trip, it is shared through iCloud with the people you invite, and only with them. They can see and edit that trip. Personal packing items and receipt images stay private to you. You can stop sharing or remove someone at any time. Nothing is published or made discoverable.
On-Device Intelligence
Pin and Plot uses Apple Intelligence, when it is available, to read pasted text, screenshots, photos, and recordings into your trip and to answer questions about it. This runs on your device. Pin and Plot does not send your trip content to the developer or to a third-party AI provider.
Apple Services
Pin and Plot uses these Apple services to provide its features:
- Apple Maps: searching for places, addresses, stations, and airports; Look Around; directions. Short Apple Maps links you paste are opened with Apple to find the place they point to.
- Apple Weather (WeatherKit): forecasts for the places on your trip.
- iCloud (CloudKit): sync and sharing.
Requests to these services are handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Optional Device Permissions
Pin and Plot asks for access to device features only when you use the related feature:
- Location (while using the app): Show where you are on trip maps and find places nearby.
- Camera: Photograph tickets, confirmations, receipts, and lists.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition: Record what you say and turn it into text on your device.
- Photos: Apple’s photo picker gives the app only the images you choose.
- Contacts: Apple’s contact picker gives the app only the one card you choose when adding a traveler. The app never reads your contacts.
These permissions can be managed in your device’s Settings app.
Apple System Features
If you use Shortcuts, Siri, widgets, or Live Activities, the details needed for that feature — such as a place note or your next journey leg — are made available to that Apple system feature on your device.
Retention and Deletion
Your trips remain on your device and in your private iCloud account until you delete them. A deleted trip goes to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it or delete it permanently. Deletions sync through iCloud.
Uninstalling Pin and Plot removes its data from that device but not from your iCloud account. To remove the iCloud copy, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud › Manage Account Storage › Pin and Plot.
Children’s Privacy
Pin and Plot does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. A traveler’s age band, if you add one, is used only to tailor packing suggestions and cost splits, and stays with your trip.
